Parko Triple Crown Hat Trick...
Joel Parkinson Wins The 2010 Van Triple Crown Of Surfing from Joel Parkinson on Vimeo.
After almost cutting his heal off earlier in the year, to a perfect 10 and 9.87 in first heat back from ridiculous injury, to 3 consecutive Triple Crowns...
The man oozes style and grace would have undoubtedly been a 2010 world title contender minus this nasty injury...
Here's what Parko posted on his website straight after his crowning....
We spoke to Joel early this morning, 10 minutes after he’d just threepeated the Hawaiian Triple Crown… with a coffee in one hand and a champagne in the other.
JP.com: Let’s rewind to you sitting on your lounge in Coolangatta with a million stitches in your foot: when did the first thoughts of the Hawaiian season and the Triple Crown start doing laps of your head?
Joel: Pretty much as soon as I got out of hospital, I suppose. People were saying that I might be back for Teahupoo, but my doctor was saying to me, “Realistically, mate, you won’t be doing much for three months.” So I started thinking that writes me off until the Triple Crown and Hawaii, and once I started surfing again – three of four weeks before I got here – that’s all I was thinking of. I just wanted to get here to Hawaii and surf us much as I can. Not so much the Triple Crown and the contests were motivating me; it was simply getting back into the water.

Vertical
The Style Master - Wayne Lynch carving a bottom turn... |
I've been watching a bit of THE HOT GENERATION lately and have really been playing close attention to the likes of Wayne Lynch, Bob McTavish & Nat Young and starting to climb new lines carving up the vertical face and hitting the lips on those deep vee tail longboads...
Bob McTavish started playing around with the tails and right at the end of THE HOT GENERATION started hacking feet of the tail so he didn't have to step back to do his carving turns... Effectively trimming, planing and carving from the one position...
The dawn of the short board era... I wonder if Wayne Lynch ever thought his massive bottom turn would evolve into this vertical attack...
The Powerful Mr Daniel Ross - going straight up the plumb line... |
Check this super powerful vertical stall...
Stay tuned for a DR interview wrapping up the ASP World Tour year that is 2010...

What is 350?
350 is the most important number in the world—it's what scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Three years ago, after leading climatologists observed rapid ice melt in the Arctic and other frightening signs of climate change, they issued a series of studies showing that the planet faced both human and natural disaster if atmospheric concentrations of CO2 remained above 350 parts per million.
Everyone from Al Gore to the U.N.’s top climate scientist has now embraced this goal as necessary for stabilizing the planet and preventing complete disaster. Now the trick is getting our leaders to pay attention and craft policies that will put the world on track to get to 350.

THE HOT GENERATION - Official Trailer
Even before EVOLUTION in1969, there had to be a catalyst and it was THE HOT GENERATION in 1967.
The necessary precursor to trigger the short board revolution. The likes of Nat Young, Wayne Lynch, Bob McTavish and Midget Farrelly showed off their style and grace on the long boards and the only way to go was shorter...
Word has it that even as Paul Witzig was in post production with THE HOT GENERATION the cast were cutting feet off their boards...
FRESH MULLET and WITZIG FILMS have a special introductory $45 offer, included is;
- THE HOT GENERATION DVD (valued at $45)
- Archival Frame Grab Print from original movie, signed by Paul Witzig (valued at $45)
- Free Postage Australia wide (valued at $10)
- Only available direct from WITZIG FILMS
Forward this on to other frothers and they'll get the same bonus deal for Christmas...
Stay tuned for the REBIRTH of SEA OF JOY, coming soon!
Peace.
Part 2 - Boycott McDonald's in Yamba
The official opening of the Yamba McDonald's has been delayed yet again... After the initial construction issues and delays it was meant to be last Friday, now 3rd time lucky, its unfortunately to be this Friday the 10th of December..
I must say however, as it nears completion that it is a complete an utter eye sore as you drive past Treelands Drive... They've also had all the other Yamba Shopping Fair Signage lowered so they can take poll position out on Yamba Rd, which was never part of the original deal, smell like fast food to me...
The MASSIVE SIGNAGE in front of the site absolutely dominates the entire area and especially the the skyline. I've even heard complaints from nearby neighbours that the 9m high sign can be seen from the Harwood Bridge some 15-20kms away...
Look out kids your about to get SUPERSIZED!
Council should be ashamed of themselves, as word starts to spread of the deal being done well before it even officially went to Clarence Valley Council... The very same council that was the successful applicant and host council of the Northern River Food Links project, a NSW Government funded initiative to reduce FOOD MILES and CO2 Emissions by becoming less reliant on centralised food supply chains just like McDonald's...
If you care about the sustainable future of local communities and the planet, please pass this post on and get everyone you know to BOYCOTT their local McDonald's...
AND support your local family owned and operated business that actually live in your community!
Peace
PS... If you'd like to get more informed on just how bad McDonald's food is for you, check out MORGAN SPURLOCK'S SUPER SIZE ME...

Having David "Baddy" Treloar as a step father not only put hair on his chest, but gave him his distinct approach to Surfing and mentors like Nat Young and Wayne Lynch, Dan learnt to ride and draw unique power lines so it's little wonder why DR is finishing strong on the World Tour this year.
