Black n White Gold...

www.johnwitzig.com.au has surely taken some amazing shots in his time and this priceless gem of our good friend Bob McTavish at Noosa in 1965 is no exception and captured my imagination more times than I care to remember.

So its time to share, just be careful as you can mind surf these loggin dreams for days... Don't stay up too late kids, its a school night...

The one, the only Bob McTavish, living legend. Last time we visited Bob he was almost running up the stairs to his office, fresh out of a total knee replacement and contemplating a surf,,, within 2 weeks of the knife... Grin from ear to ear, happier than Larry...  I want to be just like that when I grow up...

Peace

6 on the Street - Shaolin Afronauts

6 on the St is a film project that takes an intimate look at 12 Adelaide artists in a series of six minute documentaries. Next guest in our line-up of local talent: The Shaolin Afronauts.

The mysterious afro-soul of The Shaolin Afronauts first echoed across the dance floors of Australia in late early 2008. Heavily inspired by the sounds of 1970's West Africa, Ethiopia and the pioneering avant-garde jazz artists of the same period the Shaolin Afronauts draw on the this highly innovative and sometimes volatile era in music, using it as inspiration to create music with the same fire and intensity. Their spirited performances have fast gained a reputation as some of the most exciting live shows around.

Originally conceived as a side project for members of The Transatlantics the Afronauts have quickly grown into one of the most exciting bands in the country, captivating listeners with their fully instrumental original Afrobeat sound. The key to the Shaolin Afronauts unique sound is the line-up, which comprises of a three-piece horn section, 5-piece rhythm section and three percussionists.

The Afronauts have recently signed to UK based label Freestyle records and with their debut album due to be released internationally on CD and LP in February 2011 you can expect to see and hear a lot more of this band in clubs across the world.

Check them out as the play WOMADelaide 2011!

BPA FREE BOTTLE, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

You've read the heading, and I'm sure your wondering what is BPA? Or more to the point what is BPA free?

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a controversial chemical that can be found in the lining of food cans, certain water bottles and more. Some researchers and scientists have linked the hormone-mimicking chemical to a number of issues including behavioral and developmental effects in kids.

A 2010 report from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raised further concerns regarding exposure of fetuses, infants and young children. In September 2010, Canada became the first country to declare BPA as a toxic substance. In the Europe and Canada, BPA use is banned in baby bottles!
This is not a push to buy BPA free bottles, but we do have this blog to bring awareness to issues that we care about and explain things in a way that people understand.
Have you listened to Florence & The Machine below? Their amazing!

Florance + The Machine - What The Water Gave Me

If you don't get goosebumps from this then you ain't got skin and you need see someone about that...

The song is about Virginia Woolf who drowned herself in a river at the beginning of world war two. At least, I think it was world war two. The song is named after a Frida Kahlo painting called 'What the water gave me'. The song is quite philosophical referring to life and our main element that gives and takes life.

Amazing Images from Tahiti..

Check out these beautiful and scary images of Tahiti being shot with "The Phantom Camera".

This next clip, words can't describe it, explain it, it's just beyond even surfing..... One of Fresh Mullets mates Laurie Towner was a stand out. The man has a huge heart and seemed to almost smile his way through the whole thing.
We'll try and get an interview for FM in the coming days....
