The official opening of the Yamba McDonald's has been delayed yet again... After the initial construction issues and delays it was meant to be last Friday, now 3rd time lucky, its unfortunately to be this Friday the 10th of December..
I must say however, as it nears completion that it is a complete an utter eye sore as you drive past Treelands Drive... They've also had all the other Yamba Shopping Fair Signage lowered so they can take poll position out on Yamba Rd, which was never part of the original deal, smell like fast food to me...
The MASSIVE SIGNAGE in front of the site absolutely dominates the entire area and especially the the skyline. I've even heard complaints from nearby neighbours that the 9m high sign can be seen from the Harwood Bridge some 15-20kms away...
Look out kids your about to get SUPERSIZED!
Council should be ashamed of themselves, as word starts to spread of the deal being done well before it even officially went to Clarence Valley Council... The very same council that was the successful applicant and host council of the Northern River Food Links project, a NSW Government funded initiative to reduce FOOD MILES and CO2 Emissions by becoming less reliant on centralised food supply chains just like McDonald's...
If you care about the sustainable future of local communities and the planet, please pass this post on and get everyone you know to BOYCOTT their local McDonald's...
AND support your local family owned and operated business that actually live in your community!
Peace
PS... If you'd like to get more informed on just how bad McDonald's food is for you, check out MORGAN SPURLOCK'S SUPER SIZE ME...
I'm a Californian and I can't stand the McDonald's on every other street corner here in the States. On my next trip to Yamba, I plan to sneak a dozen rotten eggs from McD's own caged-chicken factory past Customs so that I can throw them at the Golden Arches as I drive past. THAT'll show 'em!
