#GOPARKO

#GoParko from Billabong on Vimeo.

Now, ain’t this telling of the age we live in. Joel Parkinson will soon board a plane on the Gold Coast and fly to Hawaii, land at Honolulu Airport, and drive to the North Shore. It’ll be the 12th time he’s made the trip as a WT surfer. And, maybe the last time as a man who doesn’t own a world title. He’s been close. He’s finished second in the world four times. Twice to Andy Irons, once to Mick Fanning and once to Kelly Slater. He now faces the latter two in a Pipeline decider for this year’s title. And, as per Billabong’s suggestion, if you wanna rally behind Joel, just drop #GoParko in your Tweets and Instagrams. Will Joel look at it? Perhaps not! But, maybe it’s an every-drop-counts scenario.

Bio Connectivity - Gavin McIntyre TED

Gavin McIntyre is the co-founder and Chief Scientist of Ecovative Design. Since the company's start in 2007 he has lead all material and biological process development in the company's strides to replace synthetics. Gavin co-invented Ecovative's patent-pending technology that uses a fungal mycelium to transform agricultural byproducts into strong biological materials. These materials are 100% compostable, and made with a fraction of the energy of conventional plastics.

For years, researchers have warned that the increasing acidity of the oceans is likely to create a whole host of problems for the marine environment. Most of these warnings were predictions for future decades as well as theories about possible impacts based on experiments under artificial conditions. Now, scientists have discovered proof that ocean acidification is having significant impacts on an Antarctic marine snail, Limacina helicina antarctica, in its natural habitat. This tiny snail hails from a suborder called the “sea butterflies” because they flap their feet like wings as they swim. They’re also known as pteropods. Whatever you want to call them, they are an important component of marine food webs, and provide food for a variety of species.

Bathurst Downhill Session..!

Bathurst is undoubtedly amongst the best race tracks on the Planet. Driving across Skyline aboard any vehicle is an exhilerating experience in its self, which drastically intensifies as you realise what you've just come up you're about to go down & similtaneously be tackling the fastest downhill S bends in the World... I can only imagine how mind blowingly fun it is bombing it with your mates, as part of the recent Newton's Nation IGSA World Cup event in Australia..

The GREAT Barrier Reef..?

Australian Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke is telling the media that his government is doing everything they can to save the Great Barrier Reef, but at the same time, they're approving - and considering approving more - coal facilities right on the reef.

This ad calls Tony Burke out. It means that he can't walk both sides of the street anymore, and voters can see exactly what he is approving. Queensland, home to the Great Barrier Reef, is also home to marginal seats at the next Federal Election - so that's where we're focusing. Chip in to help put this on the air on cinema screens and TV screens in crucial electorates:

VESTAS Sail Rocket 2 - Smashes Speed Record..

Holly Pink Flamingo thats fast..! (63knots = 116kmh or 72mph) On the 16/11/12 VESTAS Sailrocket 2 set out on it's 13th run for this session Walvis Bay Namibia. In moderate conditions with around 25 knots of wind average... VSR2 smashed the previous Outright world record by the biggest margin in the records history*. Paul larsen averaged 59.23 knots over the record 500 meter course and peaked at over 63 knots. The waters of Walvis Bay became speed sailing holy turf and the home of the Outright record for the first time. This represents the culmination of 10 years hard work. The team promise it still represents the beginning of this boats potential. Africa turned on a spectacular setting and the flamingoes are just the icing. You couldn't make that stuff up. Happy days!
